St Mary-on-the-Quay

In November 2009, I started an exciting and rewarding project for the oldest Catholic church in Bristol.  I  last worked here during the late 1980's, stencilling  the altar wall with silver vine leaves and golden grapes.  The stencil idea came from an original design to be found on the panels of the high altar.  This latest project was to restore, repaint and gild three altars and repair the high altar wall stencilling. Work also included restoring paintwork to statues.  The altars and statues look stunning with their new paintwork and gold leaf applied. St Mary's originally stood on the quayside, was completed in 1840 and designed by the architect Richard Shackleton Pope.
